Are they susceptible to disease or insects (like aphids)?

I havn't had any problems with mine, seems to be an easy going plant.
The one that gets the most sun has the most flowers.
I have seen no pest damage in the 7/8 years I had them.

i swear by these shrubs. Although the flowers only last for around 2 weeks out of the year, it is still well worth working into your landscape. Not to mention the scarlet red leaves in the fall. The compactum hasnt had the usual fall colors that i have with the larger full scale version of this plant though :(

I just bought a nice one of these yesterday at RareFind Nursery (along with a carload of other woodies).

I can't wait for the smell next year! My other purchases included a few fragrant (deciduous) azaleas, which are going in the same new shrub bed.
