I had this one, not from Chris, and it did not survive the first winter-- never saw it bloom. Is the coloring distinctively lavender-purple? at least compared to other hardy Hibiscus?

Thanks Karma. :D

Thanks LucyGoose.

John, I would say it's either lavender-purple or purple-pink. You can definitely see the purple tones in it. It's not the same color as the bright pink ones. 8-)

Very  ! Glad I looked! How big do the blooms get on the hardy ones Pat? The buds don't appear as large as the annual (tropical) one I got at home depot this year on a whim. How did you say you plant them? Did you say you have sandy soil and just amend it, but give them lots of water and fertilizer, or not?

Thanks Jane! :D I missed your post until just now. I went out and measured one of today's blooms and it was 7 and 1/2 inches. I think that's because it is beginning to close up. The description for Plum Crazy says they are 10 inches and I'd say that is pretty accurate when they are wide open.
