Problem with a Redbud tree:
Last fall and winter my redbud tree didn't drop it's seed pods. Now that it is in bloom it still has the old pods attatched to the tree. My best guess is that the tree didn't get enough water last fall and retained the pods due to stress. It is planted right next to a HUGE heirloom flowering dogwood which is so thick it doesn't allow rain to reach the soil underneath. What do you think the problem might be?
You can really see the problem in the upper left corner of the picture. Before criticizing someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them you will be a mile away and have their shoes!

That's a strange thing. Did it bloom on that wood? Or is the wood there dead? That could explain why the pods never fell off.

Hi Tigger! Yes it is blooming. If the picture was better you could see the purple blooms above the hanging pods. It definitely isn't dead. Some of the lower, smaller branches die off where the leaves get no light, but otherwise the tree seems healthy.
