Hey Lucy! How's your Desert Rose?

Post by Spider »

Here's mine, not the color of the "parent" plant, but I like the shape of it better than the ones in the stores. Too bad I have to use a film SLR if I want a decent pictire of it.

I gave it one hit with bloom plus (10-60-10). It's in miracle grow potting mix with periolite and sand. I also sprinkled everyone with the fertilizer granules you can get at the box stores. I also have it in the only sunny spot I have and water it when the pot gets light - (possibly a bit more, lol). The bit of green on the stem is new growth, it's really taken off since I moved it to that location. My neighbor who gave it to me had hers in full sun for most of the day and watered it most every day with the hose. Hers is huge! (oh, and be careful of the sap, it's deadly.)

Here you go. It's in the same size pot I put Blue Mouse ears and Cheatin Heart in, about 8" I think. Basically I up-potted it one size.

Here it is last year in it's origional pot. BME and Halcyon are next to it. BME has been moved to the same type pot the D. Rose is in now. Halcyon is in a 12" pot (ones you get at Target).

 It had significantly fewer leaves than now! But that is just a yearly stage it goes through, lol.

Yah, this winter I left it out when we had a real frost warning and it turned to mush. So it's gone. But thanks. :)
