Conifer Tree problem

Post by hostanquilts »

My son's trees have these things growing on them that look like nuts, but they aren't. When I opened one, it has a fiberous inside. I've taken several pictures & will add them here.

I have 2 more pictures but won't post them, unless someone would like to see them. TIA for any help you can give me.

Doesn anyone have any idea what these are? They are all over this three & are starting on the tree next to it.

I believe it is Cedar-apple rust or Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae.
Here are a couple of references regarding identification and treatment. Looks like a good fungicide program will take care of it.
