Are these Chokecherries?

Post by mpedersen »

Came with the house we bought. Early in the year a friend who knows his trees came through and thought they might be chokecherries. So far, I'm thinking he was right, but just want a few more opinions before I start eating 'em ;)

Yes those look like Chokecherries, but I can double check tomorrow. We have lots of them growing here. Are you really going to start eating them? The pits are poisonous, so be sure to take those out if you decide to do anything with these.

Well, I'm not gonna be grinding up the pits LOL, but yeah, I've heard you can get a pretty good jam or jelly out of the Chokecherries...

Chris, I got another strong ID that yes, these are Chokecherries. If I turn up DOA, it's cause we were all wrong! :)
