I've decided to plant more deer resistant plants and shribs, and I liek the look of kalmias, but I don;t know if the deer will like them as much as I do. Add to that, the deer in my neighborhood don't seem to read the same lists that I do....

Anyway, does anyone grow kalmia and do the deer snack on them?

When we moved here, we transplanted a nice kalmia latifolia into the woods. Unbeknownst to us, right on one of the deer paths. It was gone within weeks. But we have one right next to the house, and it's o.k.

Rare Find has a couple of hybrids with sheep laurel blood, which supposedly makes them deer-proof, but of course the flowers aren't as nice.

Or just plant and spray. We've been buying Deer Stopper (Amazon stocks it), which is much more pleasant to use than other sprays we've tried.

Mountain Laurel is among the most deer-resistant shrubs. That said, where the browsing pressure is high (too many deer/not enough to eat), deer are rumored to eat vinyl siding.

I have alot of deer and they do not seem to touch my Kalmia. Having said that, I have alot that they DO like so that may be the deterrant. I spray with Liquid Fence, Deer Out, and several others, changing every now and then. They do not like and will not touch Pieris, Mahonia, Skimmia, Sarcococca, hellebore, ferns, pachysandra. I am starting to get rid of my hostas that are away from the house along with daylillies. I just can't sit back and watch another summer waking up to sticks instead of blooms! They are beautiful majestic animals>>>every county should have one.
