Funny/odd/coincidental that I should find Teucrium canadense here on the farm for the first time so soon after Phyllis asked for help in IDing it.

Viktoria -- I agree-- it's a cool picture! I've dug up some of mine and put them in a clump out in my woods -- more are growing in several clumps elsewhere as well. It is a pretty flower stalk, and they lasted for quite a long time. I read that they can get invasive, but since I WANT things like that to invade my de-buckthorned woods, I'm happy they have found my yard. there are no DNR or Minnesota warnings about them, classifying them as noxious weeds or an invasive species, so I guess they can't be like purple loosestrife, which colonizes all over the place.
