Just have a few moments to pop in, my folks live up in the Gorge area CarolO. For those of you that missed the earlier post, he was diagnosed
with lung cancer just a few weeks ago. They gave him 18 month to 2 years. Then a week later my youngest sister was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer.
He was to have his first dose of radiation last Friday and another Monday, that is all they thought he could handle. I emailed my mom Monday evening early before we eat to see how he did. I had a conversation with DH at the table about how when I was younger and climbed tree, he would say, "You found your way up there, now find your way down." This voice guided me off the roof earlier Monday when I stepped onto the ladder and it took off, falling to the deck in a crash. I had been up on the roof getting the gutters cleaned and all the leaves and pine needles off due to the storm this weekend. I sat there on the roof (a strange feeling came over me, I just can't explain.) I looked at my options, a five foot hop to the eagles nest or drop to the rain barrels on the north side of the house. Ya know that voice and the wings of my brother got me down! We both had a good chuckle and yes I'm forbidden to go back up on the roof! A short time later my mom was on the phone and that is when I learn my dad had just passed away. I no more then get off the phone with her and DH gets a call from my oldest sister on his cell. He was in his mid 90s and according to him, he had a great life, there will be no service by his request and is being cremated so mom will have his ashes to put with my younger brothers in her special spot.

Please if you smoke, STOP.........think of your love ones whom care.

Karma, your story brought me to tears. How wonderful to have that memory of your dad's voice and the thought that he helped you find your way down from the roof.

Thank you Chris and Rosemarie.........To late I hit the roof of both the house and shed today. They both are done and I hear I'll be back up there
after Friday's storm which is dropping the snow levels and we will again have strong wind. If I don't keep busy, I start to cry and then Sable will do the
same.

My prayers go out to you and your family, Karma. No matter the age, it's hard to lose a loved one, especially a parent. I loved your story and I pray that you will always hold on to those wonderful memories. ((((Karma))))

My condolences to you and your family and a big hug to you.
It is hard to loose someone you love and even his age and sickness it is never today to happen - hope you one day will think of him with a big smile, - knowing he had a good long life.
And learned you to take care off your self

Oh Karma, I'm sorry I saw this late. I'm sorry for your loss, but it was nice being able to laugh with you about getting back on that roof.

I know it's no where near the same as what you're going through, but I have pretty bad health problems, and laughter really does help. I tell my drs that if I don't laugh I'll cry. But there are times when you need to just release those feelings too and allow yourself a good cry.

Okay, Karma, how are you doing? Are you back home yet? We are getting a little rain, but the bulk of it is going north of us.But there is snow in thar hills .(The Cascades, the Blues, the Wallowas and the Siskiyues.) I know the spelling on the last two is wrong, but it is close enough. If you live around here you will be able to decipher them, If you don't you won't know the difference! :lol And the weird thing is, I have couple of Brunnera (again with the spelling!) sitting in pots out on the deck and they are putting on new growth. ( we have had smatterings of sun and some "balmy" weather lately.) Go figure! And there are some catalogues showing up on the internet already and I am finding some gorgeous Hosta and I don't'even want to think about the new heuchera that will be showing up! Jeez, and this is only Fall yet! And this production is beginning not to make sense so I think it is time to hit the sack!! Check in Karma!!!
