You know you are a real Arizonan when you are cleaning up some tree trimmings and you hear a noise…
and instead of saying “Wow – there’s a rattlesnake!”
you mutter “Oh, great… I wonder how long it will take to get the Fire Department snake crew out here… I’ve got stuff to do!”
The answer was – about 15 minutes. The angry snake rattled up a storm and then took a nap under the pyracantha. When you find a rattler, you call to have it picked up… and you have to stay with it to make sure none of your neighbors or their dogs stumble upon it. The crew has the tools and it’s a quick process to capture and remove the beautiful-but-dangerous reptile.
Pretty animal! About 3 ½ feet long and 5 rattles…
