You know a landscape has a real place of pride in a national heritage when they put it on their money.
The deeply sculpted peaks featured in episode 15 are called Cuernos del Paine – the horns of Paine. Traveling northward in the park, the Torres – the towers – reveal theselves... amazing spires of granite.
The mountains are not the only sights in Torres del Paine. Even when the roads are lacking in scenery, interesting things appear... like guanacos...
The peaks dominate the scenery, but looking more closely, especially at the lakes, there is an abundance of waterfowl. Flamingos, geese, ducks, and swans are common residents during the summer.
So many birds... but for the “wow” factor, it is hard to beat the South American ostrich relative, the rhea.

All too soon, it was time to take a last look at the peaks of Parque Nacional Torres del Paine and move on to Argentina...
