Happy new year!

Yes I still check in but nothing like in the old days. Great to still have this info here for people :)

We are still trying to sell the old property and waiting to close on our new house in Ireland. Both processes have been slow but we are glad to do it in this order. Trying to coordinate a move and buy at the same time would have been a nightmare so this way we will have a place to move to, and hopefully get started on it early, so when the time comes where there is a buyer for the house here in Michigan we can just pack our last bags and move on over.

The house in Ireland is definitely a fixer-upper so we will be roughing it a little while until things can be modernized. But it is very cute and we are excited to make it our own. Brian took this picture the day we looked at it and this is the only picture we took. Next visit we will definitely be taking a bunch of before pictures and taking measurements so we can start planning the renovation and move.

The house is an 1800s farm house with 2 rooms up and 2 rooms down. 2 more rooms added in the 1950s when a bathroom and kitchen were extended off the back and the bath and kitchen and electric are original from that time. The only heat is from 4 open fireplaces. Once we are done modernizing it will be beautiful, and hopefully the back extension can handle a second floor to add a 2nd bathroom and a 3rd bedroom. As it is now the space is a bit tight at 1100 square feet but we love the fact that it has 15 foot x 12 foot bedrooms. That is huge for this age home.

The property is about 1 1/4 acres and I think that is plenty of room. Trying to keep up with any more would be excessive but it is still enough to build some great gardens, put up a poly tunnel, and even build either an annex or an extension to the existing house should we want more room for guests.

Thank you! We have the contracts on the house now and are waiting on an engineering report. As long as there are no major surprises like a crumbling foundation or roof on the verge of collapse then we will sign the contracts and schedule the closing. They want to close 4 weeks from the signing so we will be booking plane tickets soon :D

They loved the house but the property wasn't quite what they hoped for. They said they needed it to be more flat though our description does say rolling hills. Good feedback otherwise, though, so I'm sure someone will come along eventually. :)
