They are both fantastic! I've got befores, but still working on the back yard as WE spend all time there and to heck with those cruising 50 m/p/h past us! LOL

Also, after that kid went across the front yard a couple weekends ago, I'd rather not have had the beauty in your yards! I might have hurt him worse than a night in jail did! :x

Wonderful pictures and colorful beautiful front gardens!

But how do you get your spouses to let you do it??
Mine lets me do pretty much what I want in the back yard (with some input and some frowns).

He has let me put in a small garden next to the road b/c the grass kept being ripped up by the snowplows. It is surrounded by sidewalks.

Here is a picture of what I did in the front when we first moved in. You'd think he trust me to be tasteful. This picture is after it has matured for 10 years. (Rose of Sharon and Japanese maple with annual geraniums.

No, I don't really have anything photos, either....

I love looking at these.......I love the way Mike's looks with no grass.....I know I have showed DH that before, but he is like Sharon's DH with the front.....I guess he would let me get rid of the grass on one side, but he worries the dog won't have anywhere to go.....The back yard I have pretty much screwed up to where we has grass left, you can't get the lawn mower back there without going through the patio, and then that is usually packed. :o  just like yesterday when he cut the grass, he didn't do the back cause he couldn't get the lawn mower back there with all the pots I used to cover stuff with the frost.....Plus, I do have potted hosta's and roses....It's a mess.... Ask Pat, she was here tuesday...

Thanks for the pictures!! I love seeing them!

Before is 10 years ago when I married and moved to my husbands house (now mine also). He was so proud of his house, said "I haven't had to do anything with it since I moved here". And I just thought oh/oh.

Thank You, Wildflower and toomanyanimals for sharing. Love what you have done, great jobs. I have to admit, the kids had the back yard for several years so I worked on the front. The 'Grass' is a big issue here but with the price of gas and the up keep, I'm winning!! Each year it's less and less and we use it mainly now for a walking path except the north side of the house where I have yet to touch.

Oh Karma, You'll have to make those toes even happier by starting a shade garden on the north side! :D

My brugs from seeds are doing too well Karma. I'm dieing to get them planted out in their summer containers, but our frost date isn't till May 15/31 (depends on who you ask).

Oh, but what a beautiful lawn!

Love the gardens you already have there. So neat and tidy. My gardens always look kind of Wild and in disarray (kind of like my housekeeping lol). Love the garden on the right side of the pic. What do you have it lined with?

Wow, some shocking changes out there!
Well I'll show my project but I've only had it for a few weeks so it is in its infancy as of yet.

Wow Tim, in just a few short weeks you have made some nice changes. Love the shutters on yours and can I ask why the yawning came down over the front door?

Love those red shutters and door! Isn't it amazing how a change like that alters the look of your house so vastly? You're doing a fantastic job, Tim. I know you've planted some things also in the front, but my pic is too dark to see what it is.
Love all your photos!! :D

Thank you guys! It's been a killer getting all this done in such a short time. I'm exhausted!
The awning is one of those old aluminum jobbies and it was in terrible shape, though that's hard to tell from the picture. If I return an awning to the house I'd rather do a black canvas number which would be a bit more elegant. I hate to cover up that front door so for now I'm leaving it as it is.
The only things I've planted as yet are 3 roses: Mr. Lincoln, Tropicana, and Peace. I've been drawing on scratch paper like crazy and will start seriously on the landscaping this week. The grass is thin and mostly clover so battling that has taken a lot of time.
On the roster for the front gardens are: Rose Glow Barberry, Snowball Vibernum, Forest Pansy Redbud, skyrocket Juniper, Firepower Nabdina, and a few other things. Great to get compliments from people who have done such wonders with their own homes!

I'm wound up so tight right now you'll hear me scream without the net!
I'm working near Tulsa right now so I'm having to make trips to work on the house (about a 3 hour drive). Going back Thursday to work on the yard/gardens some more.
