I noticed this Trachycarpus fortunei in a front garden while I was out for a walk. The owner came out and asked what I was doing. I said I was curious how the tree had come to lose its head - had they cut it off?
Well, yes, they had, because they'd brought it with them from their previous house. Was it difficult to dig up? Oh, yes, it had been. In the end somebody had tied a rope round it and dragged it out with a truck.
Now they were hoping it would survive in it's new home. I said it certainly looked like it was trying!

I googled it to see if that really was all there is to it... Nope, it is quite an attractive palm!

Love this pic!
No plant WANTS to die!! Bless it's little heart (of palm, of course) for showing how badly it wants to stay alive.
I'm sending good vibes its' way!.....p

You would believe how hardy some of these palms are with the abuse we have given them to over winter them up north. Update please.

A few minutes ago I took a walk a to see if it still looked alive.
Sadly, it looked very little different from the first picture - the shoots were maybe just a bit darker and less fresh-looking.
I suspect it's either on it's way our, or else it's recovery is going to be very slow indeed.....
