Twenty Minutes Outside is Too Much

Post by Midnight Reiter Too »

It's so hot out there that I can't get anything done. I spent about twenty minutes deadheading and came in. My container flowers are no longer at their prime and I had company so I never got good photos! :( I was glad for the company; don't get me wrong. I just want to have my cake and eat it, too.

The suckers around my standard forsythia are about two feet tall now. :(

My weeping cherry out front has gone wild. It looks like a hippy who needs a haircut!

Yep, this heat is limiting my time outside too.

Very serene yard. I love that arbor.

Can I come play croquet as soon as the weather breaks??

Ooh! I'll play a game of croquet too. I can be a wicked player though.

The heat has finally broken here, and I'm headed out today to see if there are any perennials left under the weeds. My goodness, the nasty weed grasses are sure loving this heat. We got a nice rain yesterday morning, so I'm hoping the weeding will be easy today. I mowed Wednesday, and had to set the mower so high due to the crabgrass that I'm going to have to mow again today or tomorrow. I hope we don't get another heat wave like that again for a while.
I don't know, MR, your yard looks pretty neat for having been through a heatwave!
Croquet! I could get into a game of croquet right about now. My old set is completely demolished, having gone through 7 grandkids, 4 of them boys. They had a tendency to use the mallets for more vigorous activities.

I don't think we had as much heat as you did. But we've had more rain this summer than I can ever remember. The crab grass is showing in my photos even though we have professional lawncare.
