My front yard hasn't been mown for about ten years. Lawn grass has been replaced
as ground cover by lily-of-the-valley and violets. It's now home to successive waves
of shrubs and flowers, native and cultivated.
Eastern White pines,Tartarian honeysuckle, choke cherry, etcetera,
as well as the front of the house, enclose this perennial floral panel.

You know, a yard doesn't have to be tidy in order to
be interesting. I favor natives and add them as they become available,
and so each year it'll have a new addition.
Looking to the left out the front door:

Irises ,peonies, and tiger lilies will bloom next. Ypu may be able to see the native anemones in amongst the
lilly-of-the valley.
I use a mulching mower to shred everything to the ground around October - so the yard is mowed, sort of..

The Canada Anemone
follows the lily-of-the-valley and will be the dominant flower.

Nowadays with warmer mornings I'm treated to a flowery view of neighborhood
traffic while enjoying friendly cup of joe:

Try to imagine the fragrance ofCologne No.4711,and
that will come close to the aroma at the front terrace in the evening.
No doubt a persian lilac with a neighboring chokecherry bush by the front door adds to the overall effect:

Okay, the 4711 metaphor's a stretch, but the air here is fragrant to
the extent that the mailman worries his wife suspects he's seeing another
woman when he goes home for lunch after delivering letters to our front door.
-so he tells me lol
Here's a look at Dog Tooth Violet aka Trout Lily erythronium americanum proliferating under
our pine trees and have expanded to half the front yard. They're gone now for the year,
having been replaced by l-o-t-v the start of May.

P.S.: your link works fine - enjoyed the pictures, particularly the peonies.

The pink of this lactiflora peony brightens an otherwise predominately
green view.A Flowering Solomon's Seal can be seen in the background.
