Pictures of tulips

Post by toomanyanimals »

These are part of my 90% off zillion bulb buy 2 years ago.

Pink and Green tulip with large blossoms. This one is the best! :P

Next is a very dark purple tulip. Is this called a parrot? I thought if it had 'wavy' petals like this it was a parrot. Anyone know??

Next is a fringed tulip, pink and white. I can see a red and white tulip exactly like this one starting to bloom on another plant. These were from a package just marked 'mixed fringe'. Not a big bloom, but very pretty.

Hope you enjoyed them.

Ok, you guys made me go look for the names.

And now that the sidewalks and driveway are edges and the house and shed and gardens are all weedwacked before the rain gets here, I can let you know what they are.

Fantasy Parrot - Pink and Green

Black Parrot - Dark purple - Yes, DG, you were right on this one!

Fancy Frills - pink and white fringed

And YES I'm sometimes lazy when it comes to unlabeled plants. I just wasn't sure if Fantasy and the Black one were 'Parrot' tulips. A person at work thought parrot tulips were only orange and yellow combination. I had thought it was the shape of the petals. I guess I am right.

Thanks a bunch guys!
Sharon

Jane, my tulips may have some fancy petals, but the yellow and pink color combination on your tulip is gorgeous!

They were all planted 2 years ago and some made it this winter, some now. I had a few similar in form to yours (the parrots) but they never bloomed. But I think it had to do with putting a patio in near them and they were buried :(

But next year .....Hopefully I'll get more in.... I love yours :)
