Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter' Question

Post by Midnight Reiter Too »

Geranium - Midnight Reiter
Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter'

I've had three of these plants for about three years and they never get more that three or four inches across and never bloom. They're on the north side of a small Japanese tree lilac. Should I move them to full sun?

Hi,

I now have these in full, hot, dry sun and they bloom like crazy. When I had some in a part shade garden with regular moisture they did nothing, so they seem to kind of like the hot dry thing here. The other thing I have noticed is that the crown should be covered or they don't do as well, but boy do they bloom their heads off where I have them now :)

Hey Midnight,

I'm so glad you asked this question. I bought 3 of them a couple years ago. Planted them in full sun, but in a very moist area. Now I'm down to only one. I think I will move it to a dryer area.
