Asparagus

Post by Gardentoad »

I'm in central Indiana and my asparigus hasn't even started comming up below the soil. I don't know if it's just too early or if I lost them from the drought last year.

I turned over the top 3 or 4 inches of soil with a fork and added blood meal.
Is it too soon for them to start growing at all?

I think Asparagus are pretty resilient to drought and it also might be too early to worry about them. Nothing is really coming up much here, but then again we still have patchy frost in the ground, which is kind of nice since I don't want to deal with frost ABOVE the ground later!

Thanks.
Does anybody recall what blooms around the time they come up? I have lots of daffodils blooming here now, but no tulips yet.
It is eaiser for me to go by what plants bloom rather than what month.
