Hallson Gardens

Hi! A Co-worker of mine said she has a gorgeous yellow tree peony that got one big white bloom with a red center, and all the other blooms were yellow, like they are supposed to be. The plant is 5 years old at least, and has never done this. Does anyone have an explanation for this??

Is it possible the plant is grafted and has sprouted from root stock? Follow the off-color bloom's branch to the ground. (although I thought most tree peonies were grown on their own roots) If instead the off-color bloom is on a branch where there are yellow blooms from the same main stem, the plant has sported to a different bloom color.

(I'm no expert on tree peonies, but I do like them.)
