Stroke of genius or just lazy?

Post by caliloo »

Every year I get caught up in the neighborhood frenzy of getting all the planting beds weeded and mulched. I enjoy them for about a week, then all the stupid oak flowers fall and cover everything.

THis year because my schedule has been so busy (and the weather not very cooperative) I haven't even weeded all the beds yet let alone mulched them. Looking at the oak flowers, they should be dropping in a couple of weeks.

I've decided to finish the weeding at a more leisurely pace and mulch AFTER the oak leaves and maple whirlys have fallen. I will cover them all with a layer of newspaper then compost/coffee grounds, then mulch. I don't think the whirlys will get through all that, and if they do then I still have the satisfaction of knowing I tried.....

So what is it - genius or slacker?
