It's an annual, Deb.......I know some people save their's over winter, but I never have.....How would I do that? And do a cutting of this? How? Isn't it too late to do that right now? Maybe in the spring.....

It is not to late, just pull off some shots/ branches/parts and put them in a pot.. indoor in a not to hot window or ??
Never tried, but theory is nice to know too

Okay, these are STILL looking good.....How do I save them? I think my neighbor would just take her regular geraniums out of the dirt and put them in the basement....but isn't too warm down there? I'm going to have to ask again what she did......I do know that she said sometimes they live, and sometimes they die......Please tell me step-by-step. Rmember, I'm blond!

I know, I know.....I have posted this thing enough..... But I love it!!! And with the little fall thingy in the pot, it so cute! Hey, I will ask again, how do I save over winter geranums? Or, I will be buying these again in the spring....

That's a really pretty geranium. You can winter the entire container in a cool frost free area or store the rootballs in paper bags, spritzing them occasionally to keep them from completely drying out. I've had 50/50 luck this way but it's worth trying if you have the space.

You can always grow it as a houseplant thats what my grandmother always did. They are perennial in nice warm, tropical climates. Or if space is an issue, just root a cutting and keep it as a houseplant.

I went on a "geranium" binge this spring I've got about a dozen different ones, one like yours, several variegates, gold leaf etc... I put them all in the greenhouse for the winter. It's only heated to about 45* and they have done fine in years past when I've kept a few over.

Cuttings are easy. Just cut off a piece, stick it in damp medium and it will root. I took about 2 dozen cuttings of mine a couple of weeks ago. All but 2 rooted, but I think those 2 cuttings were a little too soft and green.

Boy, I'm not sure if DH will like it if I bring in one of the pots....I have two of this geranium on the front porch. One on each side.....I love the folagae...(have I said that? ...hehe)....So, I think I might try both ways, bringing one in, and taking cuttings from the other one.....after I take cuttings from the one, can I keep the roots on the cut up one, and put it in a bag like Mary Ann said? Think it will live? Well, I think tha's what I will try....

You just want to keep it from freezing while it's dormant, doesn't need light. My MIL cured sausage in her attic. during winter.

I have it and also love the color. I have had mine in the kitchen window since October. The leaves are not as pretty but it is looks healthy,
