I have never seen a scarlet tanager but that bird looks an awful lot like a goldfinch. How do you tell the difference?

Tanagers are slightly larger at 7'', very weak or no wingbars, larger bill and eye ring.

Goldfinch is 5'' smaller bill, very strong white wingbars.

I had the bird ID'd by someone other than myself.....I had no clue what it was. I just knew it was not a warbler, which is what I was looking for!
