migration has started

All my Baltimore Orioles are gone and very few Goldfinches left here. I wonder if thats a sign of a bad winter coming?

I'm not sure about the bad winter possibility, but we've definitely been seeing some colder than usual August temps on some nights which maybe helps trigger their migration. Leaves are turning early here, and some of the hostas seem to be going down a little early too. A couple morning lows in August have been near record lows and we even broke one low temp record here last month. Strange after such a hot summer...

Your right, the trees are dropping leaves already and the fall blooming perennials are blooming early. I even see some bulb shoots coming up  This years weather sure has been odd. If I see Dark Eyed Juncos soon you know its gonna be a cold winter. Fortunately my Hosta haven't really shown signs of going down yet.
