Yellow-shafted Flicker

Post by viktoria »

When we first moved here almost 29 years ago, we used to see flickers all over the place. Now we have just the occasional visitor. On this icy morning it looks like the suet tastes mighty good!

I hear them more than see them these days. I think our suet cakes were too close to the house for their comfort. Striking birds, aren't they?

This group of bird feeders is no more than 10' from the house, David.

Great catch. It's rare to see them at my house.
