hostas slowly but surely being replaced by daylilies

Post by ladybug »

after having such a devastating year in loss for my hosta beds i am in full force to buy daylilies instead of hostas. i wish my hosta beds got more sun, cause i sure would start planting daylilies in them as my hostas get eaten by voles and drought damage. i went to visit my mother last week and she took me to a daylily wildlife refuge in new market tenn. i came home with the following
chamonix
raidiant eyes
jacob
smokey mt autumn (number two for me)
my melinda
new note
patchwork puzzle
divine madness
real wind
newberry news
hat dance
allen wild
fife and drum
high yield
jolly lad
lady neva
ocean rain
love goddess
savage mocha lemon
shisdeo
my mother bought all of these with a donation to the wildlife refuge for my birthday. yeah, what better could i ask for??
then when we got home i noticed that the piedmont daylily club was having a daylily show not more than 15 miles from my home. i went and enjoyed seeing the beautiful daylies.
i came home with the following:
pennsylvania pals
ruffles and sun
best beau
zagara
jims pick
ponchitta
my front yard beds that are in full sun are now awash with beautiful flowers. i am hooked. at least i am out of my rut over my losses in hostas. move on and keep your chin up.

Are you saying that voles don't eat daylily roots?
I hope so.
I just this year have found voles in my garden. I have lost several hostas too. I have a large collection of daylilies and I wondered if the voles would start on them next.

You have some very pretty daylilies.
Never before have so few with so much promised to take away so much from so many and then laugh their asses off as the so many with so little vote for the so few with so much.

i don't know if voles eat daylilies or not. i certainly hope not. hopefully an expert will chime in and let both of know so we can breathe a sigh of relief. i never checked on that fact when i started the new obsession last year. guess i should have

Wow, beautiful ladybug!!! Do you have their names? I really like 558-559 and a couple others too.....I understand if you just forgot the names.....I do it all the time.... I enjoyed looking!!

Happy Belated Birthday!! :bd:

Oh, and I am pretty sure that voles eat any roots.......I don't think they are picky......That is what I believe anyway..... :???:
