Cactus Question

Post by Brad »

I have a plain old cactus in a flower pot that I have had for 6-8 years. It's about a foot high, 4-5 inch in diameter. Over the last couple of years, it's developed small growths near the top of the cactus that look like a small cactus growing out of the side. Probably 4-5 of them. My question is, what are they? They look like they may actually be a small cactus sprouting, and if so, how do you proceed from here to transplant.

dumb question, I suppose.

Thanks

Not a dumb question and yes they are new babies if you look at it that way. You need to let them get about an inch or two in size. Carefully remove at the base and set them a side to harden off for about a week or two and them plant in small pots and let them grow. Best of luck!
