ID Help

Post by Aud1 »

I got this from a friend. She lives in a cold zone so it is hardy. All the hardy cactus I have brought bloom yellow. Anyone have an idea of a name for a pink/red blooming Opuntia?

Thank you karma for trying to ID. That is the only pic I have that she posted of the bloom. If you click on the pics it is a little bigger. The pads look like my yellow blooming pads. The pads she sent did survive the winter and we had a very cold snowy, icy one this year.

Pricky Pear is the common name on this one, when we lived in TX we saw many different colored blooms on these. I dug
some up this last fall and they were left in newspaper on the back potting table. We had record snow and cold, to my surprise
they are doing great in the newpaper so I guess I'll be planting them soon!
