Puppy has dandruff

I don't have dogs, just cats, but our vet recommended a product called "Missing Link" as an additive to our cat's food because Jet has terrible dandruff (which REALLY shows up on a solid black cat!) In the two weeks that we've been adding it to his regular food, his coat is much shiner, sleeker, and the dandruff has noticeably reduced. I know they make it for dogs as well, KellieD uses it for her dogs.

We feed Nutro Indoor Formula for cats (dried) and they love it. We give them canned food but add at least a cup of water to each regular-sized can to really gravy it up. We just add about 1/2 teaspoon of Missing Link to each of their wet food bowls a couple of times a week, and it has definitely made a difference.

Thank you all for your tips.
I got some EVO (no grain) yesterday and have been mixing a little in their current kibble.
Shelby and the Chihuahuas certainly haven't turned their noses up to it but its so high in protein & fat I wonder if I should give it to my older dogs. I may need to find a premium brand geared towards older dogs.
The Chi's are 8 and 11 and the 11 yr. old Haley has congestive heart failure.

Andy whats in that Missing Link and where do you get it?

CR I love your Chi"s!! I have a Rat Terrier named Little Man. He found us one day and just moved in

We just love him to death and my two Boxers like him also! I recently took Little Man to the vet because he had been rubbing his eyes and they were weeping. Vet said he has allergies, most likely to grass

You might check and make sure your Rattie does not have any allergies that could be causing the flaking.

I plan on taking Sheby to the vet but I've just been so busy.
I'm not overly concerned because shes shiny and silky and not a lot of flakes. Can't imagine how you would deal with a grass allergy! Wow!

Yes, we love the Chi's too.
My husband calls them "Dumb & Dumber" but guess who gets kisses first when he gets home from work? Yup!

Brady made me laugh. I've been putting a handful of the EVO in their food as well and I noticed today he had actually spit out several pieces of his regular chow on the floor and was picking through the bowl for the EVO.
he knows the good stuff when he eats it!

BTW I see there is a new movie coming out called "Beverly Hills Chihuahuas". Looks like it will be a hoot.

Update:
5 days later and Shelby's flakes are gone!

I must admit that seemed a bit fast but the dandruff is gone! So I'm assuming she does indeed have some type of allergy that the EVO seemed to of remedied.

The Chihuahuas are on a mission to steal Shelby's food even though I put some of the EVO in their food. Its too high fat to give it to them routinely so I plan to get some lower fat food for them. I wasn't able to go back to the same store where we purchased the EVO from but picked up some lower fat Solid Gold food at another pet store. They don't seem quite as enthusiastic about it but they are eating it.

I use Hills I/D and T/D for seamus who is a rat terrier mix.When we got him he was on kibbles & bits and was shedding like crazy.He is on the I/D because we are having bowel trrouble since we got him.He is starting to come around.I think he had an overabundance of yeast in his system.Poor baby was getting such pains from gas.After discussuions with my vet we give him 1/2 an acidophilus capsule an 1/2 gas x tablet.Seems to be working.
Like one of the other posts much less poop.
