My Old Kitty died.

Post by Justme »

We knew it was coming, actually should have happened months ago. We were told she had a large cancer tumor in November '04. I was told she was at hight risk for a seizure becouse of the nature of her cancer. But instead we found her curled up on the garage floor this morning. Looked like she died in her sleep. Missy was over 18 years old. We buried her in the hosta bed, next to the house.

She ate breakfast yesterday, and I got her off the counter, that she had jumped up. Knew something was wrong when she didn't come out demanding breakfast this morning.

I was just coming here to post that my kitty died today too. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty, but glad that she didn't have to go through seizures, and went peacefully.

Tami, as I posted on Linda's thread... I am so sorry. Find peace in knowing she is at peace, and is safe in God's hands. You are lucky to have been able to lay her to rest in the hostas.

God sure knew what he was doing when he gave us furry friends! The friendship that develops is often more comfortable than people/people friendships!

Your Missy knew she was a much loved member of your family....and her time had simply come. Sending positive vibes to ease your sorrow, my friend.......p

It's so hard to lose a beloved pet. I had a white Persian for over 20 years and I'll never forget the day he died. My husband was working in his little workshop off our carport and Charlie, as always, was close by.

Paul said Charlie walked out to the greenhouse (a place he loved dearly), looked around, then returned to where Paul was working.

Charlie laid down on the carport floor and Paul thought he'd gone to sleep. When I came outside, I picked Charlie up thinking he'd be more comfortable in his bed. He had died.

I felt like the way Charlie died was his reward for the way he had lived, he'd always been a sweet, quiet, gentle creature and for as much as I was sorry to lose him, I was thankful for the gentle way he passed.

I know your home is lonesome tonight, it's used to Missy's presence. It's a hard adjustment but I think if our beloved companion pets lived to be 50 years old it still wouldn't be long enough for us. They do so much to make our lives better and it's hard to have to say goodbye.

Let me add my condolences also, Tami. I know how hard it is to lose a pet who has been a member of your family for so long. Thank you and your family for giving her a good home and caring for her in the last days of her life. I'm sure she died peacefully and with a happy spirit knowing that she was much loved. Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts. We are also glad that Missy went peacefully and kept me from having to put her to sleep. She was such a snooty cat, but I will remember her fondly always.

Am really sorry about your kitty. I too am grateful when a pet goes in it's sleep, call me selfish but I hate having to take them to the vet :(

Not selfish of you at all , Annie. I think most of us would prefer that our furkids would pass while they're sleeping. Heck! That's the way I want to go myself if given the choice!
