Trouble in paradise....
Could be a problem for my new hosta bed I am working on to go beside my new patio!
Champ, my protector, guarding my new patio???? Okay, maybe not!

It looks like he's claimed that spot, so you'll have to find another place for the hosta bed.

Thanks everyone!
I went outside awhile later and he was sleeping soooo soundly there! It was so cute! I may really have difficulty redirecting him!
Thank you Mary Ann! I will post pics when I'm finished. I am soooo happy to have my patio! It has just been one of those sore spots in the yard for so long.
Jane, no, it isn't difficult to lay a patio, but it is hard physical work which, since I am so out of shape, was hard for me! The patio is 12.5 x 12.5 and there are 645 of those bricks, and I know each one of them personally! Since they weigh about 5lbs. each probably....well, you know...I took progress photos, so when I am finished I'll post them. They will tell you everything you need to know to do one...

And here I thought you had some black and tan seedlings! Nothing like freshly turned earth to grow a dog.

Thanks Charla, I'll look for your pictures and narration of the project! I think this is what hubby wants to do around the garden shed. We aren't afraid of hard work and tackle lots of projects. I'm just concerned about getting the digging, gravel and sand nice and level to start with. Seems like pretty detailed work. Yours looks great!

Awwwwwww... he looks so contented!
I think perhaps, IF you plant full grown hosta, he will be okay with that! My girls used to love to slip under the large leaved hosta in the shade! They normally didn't dig in, unless of course, I had mulch down. The soil was always cooler under them and they rarely broke a leaf. Normally just crawled under and fell asleep. Like this.....
Edited to mention, that Lady is asleep under the opposite side out of the camera shot

She and her sister only broke maybe 4 leaves in as many years, so I never worried about. Now you guy is a big larger, so it might be a problem. But perhaps if you got something to grow that grows in the upright or vase style like uhm....foggy brain........well, anyway.... an upright hosta might be good in his spot!

Re: Trouble in paradise....
I just came across this trying to find an old post....
I laughed as I had forgotten about this....but then I just remembered....I've had to run him (Champ) out of that very spot 4-5 times this year!!! Several times he uprooted one hosta (my new Fire Island) and the fern that was there is no longer visible....I do hope the fern comes back next year! It was a new one I got from Chris!
