Fun art project with bamboo

My girls and I saw this on HGVT and decided to give it a try for ourselves... we're pretty happy with our first attempt! We each painted a canvas panel with stencils of bamboo canes that we made ourselves. After drying, we hand painted leaves on. Then the next day we took regular craft paint and watered it down, and brushed over each canvas in a different color. Finished off with inexpensive frames from the craft store, and now the blank wall in our upstairs hallway looks a lot better. It was easy, fun, and gave the kids something to do during their "I'm bored...." summer time. :)

Very nice and they should do more of them! Stencils are a lot of fun and so are rubbings, have they tried that?

Thanks... We had fun with it. At first when we only had the basic canes painted, both of my girls were unhappy with them and kept saying it looked bad. When we got the leaves on, it was much better, and with the final color coat they were really pleased :) I don't think they thought I was serious about actually framing and hanging them up, but now they have something to show off to their friends and it helps fill in a blank space. Now we're going to do some smaller ones for my sister's bathroom, yay!
