Tiger and Tiger-tiger lilies

Post by pauhaus »

Hi there, here are pics of my first tiger lilies to bloom ever.
One is a single the other a double. The doubles are really amazing looking, the pic doesn't do it justice. :P

I have several tiger lilies throughout the gardens that I brought from Mom's house when we sold it....they were from Grandma's garden before that!

I love 'em! The double is beautiful...I've never seen it! Does it have the little black bulblets along the stem like the single?.....p

Hi Petal*Pusher,

Yes, the double has a lot of the little black bulblets forming in the leaf axils. How do you go about planting the little bulblets? How do you know when to pluck and plant them?

I would be happy to send you some if you like. :P Let me know.

Oh Paul! I would love some of those beautiful little bulblets! Anything I have that you need?

The lilies I have easily start by simply falling on the ground! They are such funny little fellas.....they just seem to seperate themselves from the leaf node and roll off to the ground! I've never even covered any of them with soil. The first year, they're only about 6-8" tall....then may blossom by the 3rd year.

Thanks so much!.....p

Those are gorgeous! I've never seen a double. Tigers have been on my list for years and somehow I never seem to get them.

Thanks for the great pics.

Wow, that double is really something. It sort of looks like a jelly fish, or maybe something from outer space.
I have a lot of tigers, and let them grow wherever they decide to come up. My original clump came from my late brother, special delivery from his garden. His came from my grandmother's house, and there are others in the family who have them as well. Grandma has been gone for 20 years, but her flowers live on in my garden.
