Sort of fairy ring

Some of my lillies have been growing out in a circle the last 2 years with a bare center. One of them have more than 10 small eyes but all was planted in groups of 3.. what is happening and is it okay ?

Since they produce babies around the mother bulb could it be the mother bulb died and the babies survived? is the circle small enough for that?
Many perennials will do this. Even very large clumps of decorative grass will die out in the center.

One foot in the center , then come the lillies
Size,,, hmmm... difficult, but I would say medium. They are no´t big and bold, but still not that tiny :roll: .. sort of most of them have the change to set up a flower this year, but not a big one

They are in the 3. yaer in the garden. 3 bulbs were planted

They all had lovely flowers, no small flowers at all, but the lillies were close to 6 foot last year and this year they are less than 4 foot.
Will see if they need to be separated later in the fall.

My thought was the same as Bob's. The older bulbs died off for some reason and the new ones took over. They probably should be divided periodically but I'm not sure how often. The voles eat mine so I never have to divide them. :???:

Can you plant the next ones in a wire basket ?
