Here's a rare native we saw at Mt. Cuba in Delaware, and eventually got a plant (I think through the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society). It's clearly a cousin to heuchera/tiarella. (Hmmm... I wonder if you could make an intergeneric cross?)
The flowers are small and whitish (like native heuchera), but the little seed pods are the cutest thing. Like little egg cartons filled with shiny black eggs. We've been gathering and scattering, and hopefully will build a colony. (I could harvest some if anyone wants.)
Okay, Vik, you probably know this one. Anyone else? I'll give it a few days.
David

Hi David, I'm going to guess Mitella diphylla, mitrewort or bishop's cap although your leaves look a little different than mine. If you look closely at the bloom they look like miniature snowflakes, very nice woodland plant.

Paul wins. The tellima is similar, but the "diphylla" part is the distinction. Tellima has leaves alternating on the stem.

Thanks John!
David I never really noticed how the seeds were carried on this plant before you mentioned it here in this post. I'll have to check mine out when its time. Thanks for the post.
