Aconitum 'Bicolor' - monkshood

Post by Chris_W »

This plant came in with a batch of Peonies, actually I think it was growing within a peony! I knew the next spring that there was a monkshood there, but decided to let it go. 2 seasons later here it is in bloom - another great plant for fall color. This is Aconitum cammarum 'Bicolor'. I'll probably virus test it and hopefully propagate it since this clump has really grown big!

Thanks for looking :)

That is really cool, but not for my garden even though it would look neat in my "sorta white" garden. Ben is 4 1/2 and still puts all kinds of plant matter into his mouth. I still have to be careful about stuff like that. But what a bonus deal! I love getting a nice two for one.

Be careful handling the roots when you divide. The sap is said to be poisonous.

I believe all parts are poisonous. Same with foxglove and castor bean. All very pretty, but not for my garden right now. Oh well. Just need more hostas instead!
