I found something growing into my Weigela and Golden Tiara. Looks like it spreads by underground runners. No thorns and haven't seen flowers.

I'm wondering if it's honeysuckle.

The honeysuckles I'm familiar with have opposite leaves not alternate leaves.
I don't recognize this plant.

Is it the (imported) vining Euonymus? I think the same thing has shown up in our woods. I don't know the species. So far it's not as scary a problem as the (imported) honeysuckle vines.

Edit: yours isn't the usual invasive Euonymus fortunei (which also has opposite leaves). But I can't find anything else.

I was in Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ yesterday and saw some of this on a vacant lot along with other wild stuff.

It's not evergreen and I don't think it's honeysuckle anymore.

I'm thinking it may be an immature honeysuckle. Since I pulled it out I won't know.

I found a piece of honeysuckle in flower (that's how I noticed it) in my front yard and the leaves are similar. I need to check for that saw-tooth edge on the leaf.
