A couple of seedlings today.

Post by redcrx »

I was out today cleaning up the garden and moving some pots around. I found a Smokey seedling that was OP 13. (I had up-potted most of the OP 13's last year but missed this one.) It doesn't have many roots so it may not survive the change. But it has an interesting look for a Smokey seedling - rounded leaves, frosted back like Smokey, shiny leaf top and a lot of color up the petiole into the leaf front and back.

The second is a Mardi Gras Parade OP 13 seedling that's yellow with color up the petiole into the leaf and has a frosted back.

Thanks for posting a couple of your seedlings, Ed. I have been very slack in posting seedlings this year as most of mine are still in tiny pots with several others and they don't look the best. I've just been too busy this winter/spring. It happened so early this year. Now it is in the high 70's, low 80's and it's only May and no rain, the ground is dry and hard as concrete. What happened to gray May and will we see June gloom?

Hi Carol. We seem to be in the 4th week of off and on rain. I haven't planted many seeds this season - none in winter, a few in March no luck. Saw a paper towel method on Youtube and am trying that for a few - no success yet. I did start a bunch last week - normally. I will be doing a new bunch this week.
