Welcome visitor, nice to meet you.

I'm a transplanted dike-plugger so to speak. Born in Rotterdam and have lived in the Vancouver, B.C. area since 1971. It has only been over the past 30 years or so that my wife and I have dug ourselves deeper into gardening. The result of our efforts can be seen on the personal website I maintain.

We do not have a large yard to work with, but it's amazing for example how quickly you can go through 700 spring bulbs and still think you don't have enough, on a 50x100 suburban lot.

We strive towards having something in flower year 'round in our yard and I'd say we're pretty much there. Over the past 12 years I have become fascinated by Hostas and you will find the longest list of cultivars of any genus we have in our yard is the Hosta list. Check out which Hostas I have growing in the yard. Two separate lists are posted below which detail what I potentially have available for trade and what I'm looking for, my 'most wanted' list in other words :)

BTW, did I mention I don't have any more room for more Hostas, but that hasn't stop me from trading yet :D

So here's what I presently have in the yard. Because of space limitations in my small 50x100ft suburban lot a great many of my Hostas are potted rather than in the ground, and, a goodly number of them spend their season in darned near full sunshine, something I can get away with by putting the pots in trays I fill twice weekly with rainwater.

Compared to most here, it's a fairly short list, but it sure grew nicely over the past few years, largely because of trades. And I can't wait to see what else I can add in. At one time my list was over 100, but I have had to deal with some issues related to improperly draining potting mixes that lead to root rot and subsequent loss of the plant. BTW, each name is linked to my website page which deals with that particular variety and how it grows in our yard, pictures are added during the growing season on a regular basis. If you are Canadian and interested in pursuing the possibility of trades, please go to the Hosta trades page on my website for some further details.
