Free HVX testing at my county extension office

Post by outtahand »

Thanks Brenda!(wholyhosta)

Thanks for that tip about the County extension office!
I called them, they had never heard of HVX, so I am
taking leaves in tomorrow, they will examine them there,
then send them to be tested, at no cost to me.

I will also buy a virused plant from Wal-mart and take it
with the receipt to be tested.

Chris mentioned the nursery license does not allow the sale
of diseased plants. So,I downloaded a copy of the
Arkansas state regulations, and I'll take that with me to
Walmart and ask them to take the plants off the shelf.
The regulation says if the inspector finds diseased plants
for sale, a stop sales notice will be issued.

As soon as I get the results of the test back on the walmart hosta,
I will try to get the news interested.

Fantastic news Jim!!!

If you want something tested and need an "official" result, you might want to consider, as you said, taking the entire plant with you. Someone else (or was it you?) mentioned that their results were invalidated because they had taken the sample themselves and not the extension office...

Good luck!

bleeding along the veins.
Take them both in also. Thanks!
