Es tut mir Leid, aber ich denke das dass die Virus ist.

(and sorry for my bad German)

It looks like a Gold Standard, which is very common to have the virus.

Sorry David..aber Ich glaube nicht...
Normally there will be a green/blue marking if t is HVX on a Gold Standard..and on more leaves

To mee it look like one of those stange markings a late frost can do ..even if the hosta is still an eye that night... but to be sure...
Can you plant it in a pot and wach it for a year or 2 :-?

We can do a test in Holland... never figuréd out how and for how much :o
If a test is 70€/$ 80 it for sure keep most private collectors from testing

I am not sure either. Looks strange.
We had a bad late frost this year at the end of april (-10°C at the ground) in the southern parts of germany, a time some hostas started to unfurl this year, and there are lots of strange looking plants in my nursery :o some showing signs like yours, some look like they spent some time in the microwave  and many have this little brown dots on the outer leaves. :???:
Have a look on this one and don't cut or dig around this plant.

There are a few other viruses that affect hosta as well. It could be ArMV or TRV

That's what I was thinking too. Those marking do look like a virus, they just don't look exactly like Hosta Virus X.
