Zounds and Sum and Substance is the HVX?

If I saw either of those two plants at a nursery I wouldn't buy them, because I would suspect HVX. I know that Sum and Substance can wait up to five years before it shows visible signs of HVX and it is on the list of highly infected hostas. Zounds is also on the list of hostas that have shown to be infected. It's so sad to see, isn't it? Wait and see if Chris has a chance to see this post. He can give you a better answer than I, since he is the forum expert on HVX.

Hi Thomas,

I can't really tell for certain from the pictures. The picture of Zounds looks pretty suspicious, but does the Sum and Substance have some damaged leaves? The eye looks like it may have been damaged so that the leaves aren't coming out normal. Look at the backs to see if there are some damaged spots on the surface.

Sorry I couldn't be more certain.

Thanks Joan and Chris,

My S&S is from Poland, Zounds from Italy.

There is probably a large number of hosts affected with viruses other than
HVX. However nobody has answered the question about dangers those viruses
pose to hosts- nicotiana virus( tabaco mosaic virus), arabic mosaic wirus and tomato mosaic virus, and other unknown ...?
Oh, and alse - Maya Tritone, Amime Tachi.
I do agree with Joan - SUM & SUBSTANCE and her sports
are suspicious. I do not trust them

I do not trust in Striptease and her sports -Hanky Panky, Juha, Yellow Polka dot Bikini ( teeny weeny )..and Winter Lightning, Allegan Fogg. There are viruses, but nobodys know about them
