Just noticed an ugly hosta

Post by redcrx »

I think it's Golden Tiara. It looked OK last year and earlier this year. But I just noticed really ugly leaves. Is this virus X?

Hi Ed,

Yes, that is Hosta Virus X on Golden Tiara - good example pictures of it. That plant often has it, or can catch it easily.

Sorry to see it.

Thank Chris. Now I can add new pictures to my own virus library.

BTW, Ed, I meant to say I'm sorry your hosta has HVX!

I had 2 show up with it this year and have no idea where it came from...bummer....I'm really paranoid, now!

I'm always looking for it. This one has a twin with no signs yet but I will be tossing both. So this is my third this year. Had 4 last year. But I know they come from the normal bad source. I have a few others separated to keep an eye on - why would I buy them? - they had an interesting sport. What I really need to do is invest in the test strips to monitor this junk.
