Re: HVX
Hi Bev,
The Bressingham Blue does not look like HVX.
It could be some sunburn, also could be mite damage. If the back of the leaves have some little pinpoint sized bugs, and some damage that looks sort of like sandpaper was taken to the back, then it is mite damage. But that is definitely not what HVX looks like.
The Gold Standard doesn't really look like HVX either, though those solid green leaves sure do look weird. Are those damaged leaves only a couple of the oldest ones? If so, I would lean towards some frost/freeze damage to the first set of leaves. The green spots on the yellow center is just some normal coloring on Gold Standard. If it was HVX you would see green streaks/bleeding directly on the veins and radiating out from there.
Or are the last two pictures some other hosta? Those are really strange...
If you can take pictures of the backs of the leaves of Bressingham Blue and the damaged looking Gold Standard I could take another look to see if I can figure it out better.

Chris are the mites those little black guys that hop and ship around. If so, I took care of them. The last two pics of one leaf of GS and these are new leaves in the middle of the plant. BEV
