Loyalist with HVX ?

Post by tcs1366 »

I noticed a lot of 'signs' that could be HVX. I have actually dug it up, but came here to find out for sure.

Hi,

It looks more like cold damage to me too. Have you had frost since it was up? This eye might have been caught up after being frosted a little, then tried to continue to grow causing the crinkling. Then the frosted parts melted away after it collected some moisture.

With our very early hosta season this year, yes, there will be a lot of frost damage out there. Wait for the next couple sets of leaves to unfurl cleanly before passing any judgments now.

Hope that helps.

Yes, I would hold on to it for now. Shouldn't have hurt it too much ;)

Thanks Chris.

We had a warm-ish [60-70's. near 80] in April... now in May, we've had some COLD night, low 30's, hail, sleet, and freeze warnings... I didnt really see any damage, but guess i did get some.

I have one eye from a Frances Williams that i too thought was HVX... i've since replanted both of them.
