Possible HVX in Janet?

Post by ViolaAnn »

Am seeing some affected tissue in 'Janet' this year.

I had one test strip left, but it was old and perhaps not reliable and I'm not so sure that I used it properly either (had misplaced the instructions). In short, I'm not so sure I trust the negative result.

What do you think?

Hi Ann,

I don't think so. That line is too straight, and crosses from the middle, across a vein, and into the next section. The leaf was probably caught up while it was still an eye and you got that line. If the top line formed on the test strip and nothing formed on the lower line then it was a good negative reading.

Thanks, Chris. That's reassuring.

As I mentioned, the test strip was old - really expired some time last summer, but I hadn't used it and kept it. Do you have any idea how long after expiry they will give a valid result?
