Hi,

Last weekend a customer was visiting, had picked up a hosta at a local plant sale nearby that was labeled Prairie Sky but after looking in their book thought it might have been mislabeled, and asked if I could identify it. I told them that this was a very common occurrence, where people buy a plant labeled one thing, it was really something else, and more and more I will also tell them that it has Hosta Virus X. Time and time again people bring me plants or leaves, ask me to ID it, and I will tell them it is Hosta "blank", and it has Hosta Virus X. It is a really sad thing :(

So after we finalized their purchase and talked a lot more (there was another issue that I'll post separately about), they went to their car, got this plant, and I told them it is Hosta 'Red October'.... and it has Hosta Virus X. So here are the pictures - we confirmed HVX with an AGDIA test kit.
