Re: Can nematodes swim ?
Hi Pia,
If the nematode is present in your garden then it might be possible to spread them to another plant that way, but I'm not really sure how simple it might be, or how long it would take. There is a much greater chance of spreading it with contaminated tools, just like with HVX. When we clean and soak hostas prior to shipping we clean the soaking trays with lysol on a regular basis and leave a bit of lysol in the water, and of course rinse off all of the dirt. We also bring the trays inside after and wash really good with hot water, just in case there are any types of nematodes present. A few drops of bleach in the water might be enough to stop nematodes from swimming around, too, just don't use too much or it could be damaging to the plants.
The main thing is to keep TRV infected plants out of the garden, but that can be really tough to do since it contaminates so many plants, especially those from Europe where one of the nematodes that spread TRV are naturally present in the Dutch fields

Knowing you are so extremly buzzy and then you take the time for my questions - Thank you so very much.
II TRV, how to get rid of it ?
Dig up the hostas with soil and let it burn, then...
read one place, they would not surviwe in bare soil after a year... black plastic, Round Up or
