I'm wondering if this is Hosta Virus X, or a different virus, or cold damage?
Unsure of the hosta variety.
Does this look like hosta x virus?

Re: Does this look like hosta x virus?
Hello,
No, that isn't hosta virus x, just cold damage. The plant is Hosta 'Frances Williams' and this is common with that variety. Called "spring desiccation burn", it is caused by cold temps in spring and the damage turns brown by summer. Some years will be worse than others, and this spring was particularly bad with everything coming up too early.
Hope that helps
Chris
