HVX in 'Ani Machi'

My 'Ani Machi' just didn't look quite right to me this year. So I brought a leaf in and it sat in the kitchen for a couple of days until i decided to act. I've just run a test on it and it's positive for HVX. Just when I thought my garden was free of it and I could relax a bit - I haven't had a plant test positive since 2007. Bummer.

I don't know where all of these infected Ani Machi (aka Geisha) have come from, but I've seen several of them either in gardens or from pictures people have sent me. They all look about the same as yours.

Yes, it really is sad when you think you are HVX free and another rears its ugly head :(

The worst part is wondering just what I might have infected from it. I've had this plant since 2006.

Oh yes, I have 'Red Hot Flash' nearby and it doesn't look a lot different, but it tested negative.

Man, I feel for you. I think I have the same theme going on. I have a hosta I've had for 7 years, which tested positive this week. I haven't changed anything in that bed, so I'm stumped. I'm checking them all, but will probably remove a lot of the hosta in that bed come fall, and plant something else.
Sorry for your positive results.

I'm sorry for your positive test as well. I've found a place that will sell me more test strips for a reasonably price - gonna stock up soon.

any place, which does mail order? I'd love to find the test strips at a better cost. I just haven't found any source yet.
Feel free to PM me. Thanks

If you are in the US I think you can order from a supplier. I'm in Canada and we now have a supplier, but I found ONE of the local hosta places (I have 3 within easy driving distance) has strips they will sell to me at a reasonable price. If there are other hosta growers close to you you might get together for a group purchase to cut the cost.
